Round 3 - BRAZIL, Interlagos - Revised Race Results

Conditions: wet start behind safey car, drying later; Temperatures: track C, air C

The FIA issued revised classifications for the Brazilian GP after it was established that a timing error had occurred. Fisichella had commenced his 56th lap before the race was red-flagged and the race results are therefore the running order at the end of lap 54, not lap 53 as originally stated. The Championship Standings will be updated when I get back from the pub!

Notes:
* Alonso's pitstops include drive-thru penalty for overtaking under waved yellow flags.

Race started under safety car due to wet conditions, the first of four deployments during the race. Water running across the track at Turn 3 caused six spin-offs, twice resulting in safety cars while the stranded cars were cleared.

Webber recovered from a spin at Turn 3 but had a massive accident after spinning on the pit straight. Alonso hit debris from Webber's accident and suffered an even more heavy shunt, resulting in the race being Red Flagged on lap 55.

Alonso was limping when he got out of the car and was stretchered away for treatment. Update: He suffered bruising to his ankle but no serious injury.

Jordan celebrated thinking that Fisichella had won, being in the lead at the end of lap 54 ... but the joy was short-lived as the rules dictate that the driver in the lead 2 laps before the Red Flag is the winner.

But that wasn't the end of the story, 4 days later the FIA announced an enquiry due to evidence that Fisichella had in fact started his 56th lap at the time the race was red-flagged. On Friday 11 April they confirmed that to be the case and the countback was thus to lap 54 giving the victory back to Fisichella, promoting Ralf Schumacher into the points and relegating Webber to 9th as he crashed out on lap 54 not completing the lap.

A satisfying result, but a shame for Fisichella that he couldn't celebrate his first victory in 110 races on the podium immediately after the race.
