Grid penalties: Hamilton changed gearbox after Qualifying so suffered a 5 grid slot penalty.
Both Toyotas were judged illegal in post-qualifying scrutineering, so started from the pitlane.
Race penalties: Initially Trulli was given a time penalty for apparently overtaking Hamilton under the Safety Car, dropping him down the order and promoting Hamilton from 4th to 3rd.
However that was overturned on appeal when it emerged that McLaren and Hamilton had been less than totally forthcoming with the stewards, omitting to mention that the team had instructed Hamilton over the radio to let Trulli back through. So Hamilton is disqualified, losing a safe 5 points for the chance of an unearned 6th, and the senior member of the McLaren team who accompanied him to the hearing has been suspended by the team. What an unholy mess!
