Grid penalties:
Badoer has a 5-slot grid penalty for a gearbox change, so moves from 20th to, um, 20th!

Race penalties:
Webber given a drive-thru penalty for an unsafe release from his pitbox (into the path of Heidfeld).
The incidents between Grosjean/Button and Alguersuari/Hamilton will be investigated after the race.

Race notes:
Safety car out on lap 1 - disastrous start for Barrichello, getting stuck on the grid, but later in the lap both Button and Hamilton along with Alguersuari and Grosjean are out of the race at Les Combes. Looks like Button got a tap from behind from Grosjean which spun him round and into Hamilton.
Retirement for Trulli, his promising grid position not bearing fruit.
Disastrous pitstop for Alonso (difficulty removing the spinner from the left front, possibly as a result of damage sustained in an early incident) has ended his hopes of a points finish - indeed radio message has just called for him to drive slowly back to the pits and retire.
The blue smoke plume from an oil leak for Barrichello in the closing laps gives hope to those following him - can his engine hold on to the finish? Yes - although with flames pouring from the side as he cruises back into the pits!
