Notes:
Regardless of where they've finished above, M Schumacher, Coulthard and Barrichello will all start 10 places further back on the grid due to engine changes. The unfortunate Massa has had two engine changes, and will therefore suffer a 20 grid slot penalty.
M Schumacher cut that very close, doing only just enough to avoid the cut at the end of the first period.
R Schumacher suffers a massive engine blow out on the main straight during the second period and takes no further part in the session. He will start at the back of the grid but having set a fast time immediately before the engine blew, he manages to knock someone else out of the final period.
Klien does only one run in the third period, settling for 9th ahead of R Schumacher who couldn't run after this engine blew in the second period.
Fabulous session from Rosberg, qualifying 3rd in his second race. The two Renaults appear to be on different race strategies, with Alonso fuelled heavy and Fisichella light. |
